With the new Basler boost series, Basler sets new standards in industrial image processing.
CoaXPress was previously only available at speeds of up to 6.25 Gbps. With CPX 2.0, throughput speeds of up to 12.5 Gbps are now possible. This opens up completely new possibilities and makes it possible, for example, to use high-resolution sensors. The Basler boost series is now available with this interface. Up to a cable length of 40 meters, the camera delivers high resolutions and high frame rates.
In addition to the camera, Basler also offers the camera with interface card in the Basler boost bundle.
The new Basler boost
Finally, the new interface makes higher resolutions and frame rates possible. That’s why Basler boost is available with either the Sony IMX253 or IMX255 sensor. With these sensors you can achieve a resolution of 12 and 9 megapixels at maximum frame rates of 68 fps and 93 fps.
With the interface board included in the bundle, you have the full range of image processing at your disposal. The interface card does not load the processor of the computer when transferring the image data. This provides much more computing capacity for processing the images.
The frame grabber is only available as a bundle and is not sold separately.
Advantages of CoaXPress 2.0
CoaXPress offers many advantages for users with challenging conditions. The benefits make it easier for you to shoot and set up.
High bandwidth
With a throughput speed of up to 12.5 Gbps, CoaXPress is one of the fastest interfaces on the market. Thanks to this speed, you can significantly increase the throughput of your existing application and take advantage of high-resolution sensors.
Larger cable lengths
In contrast to e.g. USB 3.1 or CameraLink interfaces, CoaXPress 2.0 offers much longer cable lengths. With USB 3.1 and CamerLink, maximum cable lengths of up to 10 meters are possible. CoaXPress enables a maximum cable length of 40 meters at the highest throughput speed. At lower throughput speeds, even more than 100 meters are possible.
Due to the longer cables you have a much higher flexibility in the setup. This avoids the problems that often occur when short cables are used.
Easy to set up
You can use the coaxial cable to transmit data and power the camera. By coupling the CXP standard to the GeniCam standard, a simple connection between camera and PC software is possible. Even the use of other vision standards is possible.
Precise control
Thanks to the combination of frame grabber technology and suitable cameras, very accurate camera synchronization is possible with multi-camera systems. The low latency also contributes to this.
Cost benefits
When it comes to the lowest cost per megabyte transferred, a CoaXPress 2.0 interface is the price-performance winner. This is mainly due to newly available electronic components and the ability to use only one cable.
Areas of application for CoaXPress 2.0
CoaXPress is suitable for many applications. Especially if you are not satisfied with the previous performance or want a space-saving integration.
Thanks to CoaXPress, you can now use the full speed of high-resolution sensors and further improve your recordings.
The use of the frame grabber also reduces the CPU load of the computer. So you can process and record high-resolution images with many simple systems and do not have to invest in new PC systems.
