Line scan cameras

In contrast to area scan cameras, line scan cameras only ever record one line per exposure cycle at a very high resolution. Either the object is moved past the sensor or the sensor is moved past the object in a linear movement. This creates a two-dimensional image line by line. The resolution per line is significantly higher with this technology than with conventional area sensors and enables a better spatial resolution with a given object field. Thanks to the adjustment to a smoothly running production line, image capture is possible at very high line speeds.
