Backlights

Backlights are positioned behind the object being inspected to create a sharp silhouette. This is the most efficient method for precise dimensional measurements, checking fill levels, or detecting breakthroughs and contour defects without distracting surface reflections.

Technical Scope

Our product range offers solutions for a wide variety of surface sizes and visual requirements:

• Dimensions: From compact models starting at 25 x 25 mm for small parts to large-area lighting solutions with edge lengths exceeding 1000 mm.
• Homogeneity: The use of specialized diffusers and edge-lit technologies (e.g., in Smart Vision Lights) ensures absolutely uniform illumination all the way to the edges—essential for applications requiring precise measurements.
• Compact design: We offer ultra-convex models with an extremely shallow profile that can be easily integrated into tight machine rooms behind conveyor belts.
• Wavelengths: In addition to standard white light, we offer red and infrared (IR) options to minimize the effects of extraneous light or to take advantage of specific material transmittance.

Integration & Control

• Flash and continuous modes: Optimized LED arrangements enable operation in overdrive mode to achieve maximum contrast even at the shortest exposure times.
• Integrated controllers: Models with internal drivers (e.g., iBlueDrive from DCM) reduce the amount of cabling required and protect the hardware from thermal overload.
• Camera synchronization: Seamless integration into existing ecosystems (such as the Basler ) for direct parameterization via the image processing software.
• Industry standard: Rugged housing designs with standardized M12 connectors and high protection ratings for continuous use in production.
