Dark-field illumination
Dark-field illumination is the most precise tool for revealing even the smallest scratches, dust particles, or engraved markings on flat surfaces. The light strikes the object at an extremely shallow angle, so that only irregularities refract the light toward the camera. The result is a high-contrast image in which defects appear bright against a dark background.
Technical Scope
Our portfolio includes specialized geometries designed to maximize contrast:
- Extreme beam angles: Designs that emit light nearly parallel to the surface in order to highlight even the slightest elevations or depressions.
- Dimensions: From compact ring-type dark-field systems for small components to large-scale solutions for inspecting glass or sheet metal.
- Wavelengths: In addition to white light, red, infrared (IR), and UV wavelengths are commonly used, for example, to detect fluorescence in adhesive residues or coatings.
- Optical uniformity: Use of high-density LED arrays (particularly in Moritex) to ensure seamless 360° illumination.
Integration & Control
- High-Speed Mode: Supports overdrive modes for extremely short exposure times to prevent motion blur at high frame rates.
- Compact design: The flat housing design allows the device to be placed very close to the test object, which is essential for the physical functioning of the dark-field system.
- Protection classes: Availability of rugged enclosures for use in environments prone to contamination where protection against dust or water splashes is required.
- Industry standard: Standardized M12 connectors for seamless integration into the machine control system.
