High versatility and consistent performance

Flexibly utilizing production capacity while carefully managing investments is nothing new. The HP Indigo 7900 CPO offers an approach that combines both. It is based on an established platform with high production output and is technically inspected, refurbished, and updated as part of the Certified Pre-Owned Program. This provides a machine that meets requirements for quality, productivity, and application versatility without the investment barrier of a new system.

In operation, it enables the combination of standardized print jobs with higher-value-added applications. The integration of automated functions supports stable production and reduces the need for manual intervention. At the same time, the wide range of substrates and inks opens up additional business opportunities.

Wide range of applications

The HP Indigo 7900 CPO covers a wide range of applications in commercial and specialty printing. It handles a wide variety of substrates, including coated and uncoated papers, synthetic materials, colored media, and metallized substrates. It can also process thick materials up to 550 microns.

With up to seven inking units and over 20 specialty inks, applications with an expanded color gamut and additional effects can be achieved. The reproducible color gamut covers up to 97 percent of the PANTONE color space.

This flexibility opens the door to additional applications such as photo production, heat transfer, and packaging. The machine can process different media without interruption, thereby supporting changing order structures during operation.

Productivity

The HP Indigo 7900 CPO combines industrial-grade performance with a lower upfront investment through the Certified Pre-Owned program. The machines undergo a standardized testing and refurbishment process that includes the replacement of relevant components and a final quality control check by HP.

With a capacity of up to 5 million pages per month, the machine is suitable for continuous production in the medium- to high-volume range.

The wide range of applications makes it possible to consolidate both standard jobs and higher-margin specialty applications onto a single platform. Features such as Enhanced Productivity Mode boost productivity by up to 33 percent while reducing costs by approximately 15 percent for suitable applications.

Intelligent Process Control

The HP Indigo 7900 CPO integrates various automation features to stabilize and streamline production. Automatic print queue optimization enables continuous operation, while proof and production jobs can be processed in parallel.

Automated defect detection systems identify quality deviations early on and reduce the need for manual inspections. Color calibration is automated, ensuring consistent color reproduction across different machines and locations.

This is complemented by predictive maintenance capabilities. Machine learning algorithms identify potential technical issues in advance and help reduce unplanned downtime. Combined with PrintOS and a cloud-based front end, this creates a production environment designed for end-to-end control, transparency, and high availability.

Quality assured through the HP Certified Pre-Owned process

The HP Indigo 7900 CPO undergoes a technical inspection and targeted refurbishment as part of a structured reconditioning process. The goal is to bring the machine’s performance and reliability up to a defined level that meets HP Indigo standards.

The selection is based on age, print volume, and technical condition. The machine is then sent to an authorized HP service center for a systematic refurbishment. During this process, key assemblies are cleaned and inspected, and components prone to wear—such as seals, filters, and mechanical parts—are specifically replaced.

The overhaul includes, among other things, the printing mechanism, the ink supply system, and the paper feed system with its transport-related components. In addition, safety-related functions are updated, and software and hardware versions are upgraded. Following the technical refurbishment, the machine undergoes full integration and a final test run to verify print quality and production performance. The machine is released only after successful validation.
