Today, printing companies must consolidate different types of jobs onto a single platform. Standardized jobs facing intense price pressure coexist with high-value-added applications, short turnaround times, declining print runs, and variable content. This is only economically viable if productivity, flexibility, and process stability can be managed simultaneously.
The HP Indigo 7K+ is an evolution of the established 7K and is based on the globally successful 7X00 platform, with over 2,200 systems installed worldwide. It meets these requirements by combining cost-effective production with an expanded range of applications.
ECO Print Mode reduces ink usage for less critical jobs and lowers the cost per job. At the same time, additional ink units and specialty inks enable applications with higher added value. Broad substrate support allows for the use of a wide variety of materials without changing systems. Automated color control, inline inspection, and AI-based assistance systems stabilize the production process and reduce manual intervention. This increases reproducibility and ensures consistent quality across different jobs.
Meet specific production requirements
The HP Indigo 7K+ is designed to consolidate key commercial printing requirements into a single system. It addresses the critical aspects of production: expanding the range of applications, controlling costs, and stabilizing processes. The following points illustrate how these requirements are implemented in practice.

Versatility
The HP Indigo 7K+ covers a wide range of applications. It processes over 2,200 certified substrates, including coated and uncoated papers, synthetic materials, and colored media. The maximum substrate thickness is up to 550 microns.
With up to seven inking units and more than 20 specialty inks, the system can handle not only standard CMYK jobs but also applications requiring extended color gamuts and finishing effects. These include white, silver, fluorescent inks, and transparent effects. The reproducible color gamut covers up to 97 percent of the PANTONE color space.
This combination makes it possible to produce both standard printed materials and high-quality applications such as marketing materials, packaging, or personalized products on a single platform.

Economic efficiency
The HP Indigo 7K+ is designed to handle a variety of job types cost-effectively. The new ECO Print Mode offers a more cost-effective four-color option with reduced ink coverage and is suitable for less quality-critical applications or text-based jobs.
The new ink formulation increases pigment concentration and reduces ink consumption. This can save up to 60 ink cartridges per year per machine. In addition, CO₂ emissions are reduced by up to 11 percent thanks to optimized consumables, and by an additional 14 percent per print job in ECO mode.
These factors have a direct impact on operating costs and help ensure more consistent cost estimates across different types of jobs.

Automation
The HP Indigo 7K+ incorporates several automation features designed to stabilize the production process. The "Color Beat" system monitors color stability in real time and achieves standardized color values in less than two minutes. The AAA inline inspection system automatically detects printing errors and reduces the need for manual checks. This reduces waste and improves process reliability.
HP Nio is an AI-powered assistant that accesses production data and provides specific recommendations for optimization. This enables faster, data-driven decision-making.
This is complemented by new consumables that extend replacement intervals and reduce the workload for operators. Overall, this results in higher machine availability and a reduced workload for operating personnel.
