The changing printing industry: A gem from the SRF archive

Printing industry in transition: A gem from the SRF archive Printing

The realization that change is a constant in the printing industry no longer surprises anyone. But a look back can still surprise us - and entertain us.

A Swiss television archive gem from November 2, 1976 impressively shows the conditions under which the technological upheaval took place at the time. The report documents the transition from lead typesetting to electronic typesetting machines and film imagesetters - a process that brought with it not only technical, but also social and economic challenges.

In times of constant change, strong partnerships are essential because they prove how joint commitment and trust can pave the way through change. We at Chromos have been providing this since 1946.

Many thanks to Swiss Television for this look into the past. It provides an opportunity to appreciate the roots of our industry and draw inspiration for future developments.

A little tip at the end:

A visit to the online archive of Swiss Television is always worthwhile - but be warned: browsing through the archive can unexpectedly turn into a stay of several hours.
