Entry into the world of 3D scanning

  • Course duration: 1 day
  • Bookable exclusively for companies
  • CHF 1'950.- per course
  • max. 10 participants
  • Implementation on request

3D scanning is still a relatively uncommon technology that holds immense potential, especially in combination with additive manufacturing technologies such as 3D printing. 3D scanning can be used to create a highly accurate "digital twin" of almost any physical object. This 3D data can be used at the start of a process chain for reverse engineering or after the production of a component during quality control, e.g. to check dimensional accuracy.

CONTENTS

This workshop gives interested companies a comprehensive overview of 3D scanning technology and its underlying principles, such as the "structured light" method. It will be shown step by step how objects are captured with a 3D scanner. The resulting scan data is processed using mesh processing software so that it can then be 3D printed. A typical reverse engineering process is demonstrated using an orthosis design and various processing options are shown.
