Alongside additive manufacturing, 3D scanning is a technology that is still not very widespread and holds immense potential. Using 3D scanning, a highly accurate "digital twin" can be created of almost any physical object. 3D scanning captures physical objects that are then digitized in 3D. This 3D data can be used at the beginning of a process chain, such as in reverse engineering, or at the very end of a production process for quality control of a manufactured component.

CONTENTS

This workshop gives interested companies, private individuals, students and apprentices a comprehensive insight into the world of 3D scanning and the principles of the "Structured Light" process. It will be shown step by step how objects can be digitally captured with a 3D scanner. The resulting scan data is processed and examples are given of how it can be used for other applications.
