From 3D model to 3D print - step by step

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is already rapidly finding its way into a wide range of business areas worldwide and is also becoming increasingly popular in the private sector. A sound insight into applications, processes and printing technologies forms the basis for a professional introduction to this dynamically changing technology.

CONTENTS

Additive manufacturing offers maximum freedom and independence in the manufacture of products with competitive production costs - even in very small quantities. Product development uses these properties to create additional added value for companies and end customers that is not possible with traditional manufacturing.
This workshop gives interested companies a comprehensive insight into the current status of additive manufacturing methods and their processes. It will be shown step by step how the required 3D models are designed and prepared for printing. In the next step, the model is "sliced" and commissioned as a job on the FDM/FFF 3D printer. We then explain the FDM/FFF 3D printer to you in detail, put it into operation together and start our print job.

TOPICS

- Application examples from practice
- Technology overview
- The process chain
- Design freedoms and restrictions in FDM/FFF 3D printing
- Case study - "How a sheet metal part design is redesigned for 3D printing"
- Principle of slicing
- Function and operation of the FDM/FF 3D printer
- Start 3D printing

TAKE AWAYS

- Basic knowledge for getting started in additive manufacturing / 3D printing
- Possible applications of the most important technologies in 3D printing
- Understanding the process; from 3D data to 3D printing
- Which printing technology is most suitable for your own project
