Domino U510
UV marking system for long-lasting and robust marking of plastic materials
The U510 UV marking laser enables permanent markings on plastic substrates without impairing the barrier properties. It works on white and colored materials using an innovative photochemical reaction that works independently of pigments or prepared coding fields. Integration is easy thanks to the all-in-one solution comprising a controller and laser unit, while the IP55 protection class makes the U510 ideal for humid production environments.
Particularly well proven in the medical technology, pharmaceutical and food industries, the U510 UV laser also meets Industry 4.0 requirements with optional Domino Cloud connection. It is perfect for marking sustainable packaging materials such as recyclable mono-material polymers, including thin films. If you have any questions about substrate suitability, please contact the Domino Laser Academy team of experts.
The Domino U510 is a compact UV marking laser that enables permanent markings on plastic substrates, regardless of pigments or specially prepared coding fields.
Highlights of the Domino U510
Precise and razor sharp
A laser beam diameter of just 30 µm ensures precise codes that are easy for both people and machines to read.
Coding with high contrast
Consistently bright white on dark plastic and deep black on white plastic, regardless of pigments or specially prepared coding fields.
Uncomplicated setup
A space-saving all-in-one solution, consisting of a control unit and either a laser unit or laser head, which can be easily integrated into the production line.
High-power UV laser
Laser source with an output of 6 W at 100 kHz, ideal for applications with on-the-fly and high-speed requirements.
The Domino U510 at a glance
- Thanks to a photochemical reaction on the outermost layer of the packaging material, the laser enables precise marking. This means that even extremely thin packaging films can be reliably marked without impairing the protective barriers of the material.
- When marking white and colored plastics, the laser pulse interacts with titanium dioxide (TiO2), which enables clear and legible coding.
- Applicable to various materials, including flexible, recyclable films, white or colored high and low density polyethylene (HDPE/LDPE) and polypropylene (PP) in various shades.
- Possibility of laser marking on a wide variety of product surfaces without the need for additives or specially prepared coding areas.
- UV laser with extremely short wavelength of 355 nm and high absorption rate, resulting in lower thermal load and reduced formation of soot particles.
- The implementation of fan cooling eliminates the dependence on water or compressed air as a cooling source.
- The flexible U510 scan head can be mounted both horizontally and vertically.
- The optional integration of a camera enables automated code checking.
- Effortless implementation of an audit trail for compliance with 21-CFR Part 11.
- The IP55 protection class, which guarantees dust and water protection, makes the system ideal for challenging production environments.
UV laser marking in the food industry
As packaging becomes more sustainable and environmentally friendly, coding solutions often need to be adapted while ensuring food protection. The color change that the U510 creates on the top substrate layer produces clear, legible codes without compromising the food protection layer.
UV laser marking in the pharmaceutical industry
Meeting track-and-trace and serialization requirements calls for a sustainable and future-proof solution. The U510 enables the coding of light-colored plastics in accordance with international legislation such as EU Regulation 2016/161, 21 CFR Part 11, e-Pedigree, SFDA, ANVISA, CIP13, ITS and many others.
