European premiere of the RMGT 970 Printing
For over 70 years at the Johannes-Gutenberg-Straße 1 site in Selbitz, Upper Franconia: Müller Fotosatz & Druck, a 20-strong, fully integrated company run by Johannes and Ernst Müller in the second generation.

Müller Fotosatz & Druck has always been committed to investing in modern printing technologies in order to meet the requirements of customer satisfaction, sustainability and environmental protection and to be able to produce in a climate-neutral way.

Based on their positive experience with the existing LED-UV technology, the two owners Johannes and Ernst Müller were certain of one thing: they wanted to invest in a sheetfed offset press with an LED-UV system again. Another investment criterion was that the press should meet the latest requirements in terms of technology, the environment and sustainability. The introduction of the new A1+ Innovation RMGT 970 with LED-UV technology came at just the right time.

European premiere of the RMGT 970 Printing
The RMGT 970-ST-5 was installed in a Leo LED-UV system from GEW at Müller Fotosatz & Druck at the end of October 2021 and has since reduced production costs by around 30 percent. Powder-free production of 16,000 sheets per hour is possible.

ORDERED UNSEEN ON THE BASIS OF TRUST

"The machine not only meets all of Müller Fotosatz & Druck GmbH's requirements, it also has many other impressive benefits," explains Peter Reiter from the Chromos Group, who is responsible for sales of RMGT printing machines in Germany.

Trusting the great expertise of Peter Reiter and the Chromos Group, the company then invested in the RMGT 970 with LED-UV technology - unseen - as the first European print shop.

The machine was installed at the end of October 2021 and has been producing high-quality print products since mid-November. The enthusiasm for the new printing press is palpable among everyone involved at Müller Fotosatz & Druck - because the expectations for the machine were even exceeded in practice.

EQUIPPED WITH NEW FEATURES

The newly developed RMGT 970 is a printing press in A1-plus format. With a maximum sheet size of 650 × 965 mm (max. print area of 640 × 930 mm), it can perform a variety of print jobs very efficiently, including the printing of versatile brochures, posters or cards.

In addition, new features on the RMGT 970 meet the requirements for shorter makeready times, simpler operation and greater machine efficiency. These include the edgeless plate clamping system, the touchscreen panel at the feeder and delivery for an improved user interface and the Smart Assist Printing function for non-stop operation from makeready to final printing.

The RMGT 970 enables high-speed printing on wider paper formats, making it ideal for a wide range of print jobs and short runs.

Peter Reiter also presented the CtP platesetter from Cron, which is perfectly matched to the new format, as a European premiere (see also the report on pages G 22-23 in this GP issue).

FULL EQUIPMENT FOR DEMO PURPOSES

The small space requirement and the more convenient format (space for eight A4 pages and for printing a color control strip and a PQS-D register mark) compared to the alternative RMGT 920 contributed to the investment decision. Equipping the machine with a Leo LED UV curing system from the British manufacturer GEW was mandatory, as the company was already used to LED UV printing from the previous machine. All housed in one device, this solution offers ultra-fast curing of the ink and a completely sealed installation in the press. This is accompanied by powder-free production and low energy consumption.

Chromos Group will also use the first RMGT 970 at Müller for machine demonstrations for other customers. The RMGT 970 has therefore been equipped with many extras, including:

  • fully automatic disk change
  • an automatic air supply at the feeder
  • the RMGT Cloud as a cloud solution
  • preparation for inline measuring devices

BETTER, FASTER, MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

Thanks to automatic job reading, Müller now achieves half the printing time for 100,000 A4 pages, for example, with significantly better print quality and less energy than before. The versatile company thus offers even more service (just-in-time production) in premium quality for its customers.
